BLANCHE TRESEMER
ORCHARD - Nellie Blanche Tresemer, 91, of Orchard, died Tuesday (Jan. 16, 2001) of natural causes while visiting her daughter, Judith, in Libertyville, Ill.
Blanche was born in Orchard on May 29, 1909. She was the third oldest of eight children born to Horatio and Grace (Squier) Lack. She was educated in Orchard schools and graduated from Orchard High School in 1926.
She attended the University of Wisconsin and Iowa State Teachers College. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Upper Iowa University in 1966, graduating cum laude.
She and Tom Tresemer were united in marriage in Elizabeth, Illinois, on May 29, 1930. Two children were born to this union, Judith Ann and John. She also has an adopted daughter, Helen. Other than living in Osage for a short period of time following her marriage, Blanche lived in the Orchard area her entire life. She spent more than 45 years teaching children in East and West Lincoln Township country schools, and Mitchell, Orchard and Osage schools, touching the lives of many youth. She retired from teaching in 1974.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling to visit her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking and just being a friend to many in the community.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Congregational Church U.C.C., in Orchard, with the Rev. William Griffee officiating. Interment will be in the Orchard Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and one hour before services on Saturday at the Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Counsell and her husband, Virgil, of Independence, Mo., and Judith Schimpf and her husband, Dale, of Libertyville, Ill.; one son, John Tresemer and his wife, Ruth, of Papillion, Neb.; two brothers, Robert W. Lack and Vera, of Osage, and Harold Lack, of Orchard; one sister, Marilyn Larson and her husband, Phillip, of Mission, Texas; two granddaughters, Julie Phipps, of Kansas City, Mo., and Amy Tolu-Honary and her husband, Abdollah, of Freeport, Ill.; five grandsons, Jason Tresemer and his wife, Megann, of Naperville, Ill., Joshua Tresemer, of Papillion, Neb., Karl Schimpf, of Libertyville, Ill., David Counsell, of Trenton, Mo., and Tom Counsell and his wife, Donna, of Kansas City, Mo.; two great-grandsons and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded by her parents, Horatio and Grace Lack; three brothers, John Lack, Howard Lack and Julian Lack; and one sister, Bessie Lack Ford.
