Funeral services for Irving Kittleson of Austin, Minn., were held Friday, June 23, 1989 at First Lutheran church here with the Rev. Thomas Hughes officiating. Irving Alden Kittleson was born to George and Mathilda Knutson Kittleson February 9,1906 in St. Ansgar and was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran church. He graduated from St. Ansgar high school in 1923 and attended Iowa State University in Ames.

He worked in the Hess Drug Store, Northwestern Portland Cement Co. in Mason City, Kane Drug Store in Osage and the Dewey Portland Cement Co. in Davenport, retiring from there in 1970.

He enlisted in the Army March 2, 1942, being in the 121st Signal Radio Intelligence Co. during World War II, receiving purple stars for the Campaigns of Normany, North France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He earned the Good Conduct medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Victory medal, American Theatre Award, European, African and Middle East Theatre ribbons with one Silver Star, three overseas service bars and one service stripe.

Irving moved to Austin, Minn. in 1983. He died June 21, 1989 at the Adams Care Center in Adams, Minn.

Irving is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Sherwin and Ila; a sister, Violet Hildreth of Austin, Minn.; two sister-in-law, Fannie Kittleson and Mabel Kittleson of Lake Crystal, Minn.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cora and Della, three brothers, Clayton, Glenn and Alton.

Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar.
