MASON CITY, IOWA - Leone E. "Lee" Neuhaus, 88, of 1128 Eighth St. N.W., died Saturday (Oct. 28, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Interment will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery, Stacyville.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City. There will be a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. followed by a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Leone Neuhaus Memorial Fund.
Leone was born on August 2, 1912, the daughter of Valentine and Ida (Smith) Brown in Stacyville. She graduated from Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville.
In July of 1939 Leone was united in marriage to Gus Neuhaus in Easton, Maryland. The couple lived for a brief time in Chicago before returning to Mason City.
Leone could often be found playing bingo, 500 or gin. She would spend hours working in her garden and canning her bountiful harvest. Leone was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, St. John's Circle, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Elks. She was a member and past president of the Does in Albert Lea and a member of Senior Citizens Center and AARP local and national.
Those thankful for having shared in Leone's life include her son, Dr. Ronald L. Neuhaus of River Falls, Wis.; a sister, Dorothy Wageman of Stacyville; three grandsons, Dr. Eric Angus of Victoria, British Columbia, Christian Neuhaus of Madison, Wis., and Max Neuhaus of River Falls, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Neuhaus was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus; three sisters, Ann Guffey, Belle Keitges and Irmine Olson; and two brothers, Charles and Walter Brown.
