Benjamin Theodore Hegland 1893-1950
St. Ansgar – Benjamin Theodore Hegland, son of Lars and Mary Tollefson Hegland, was born May 30, 1893, in St. Ansgar. He attended St. Ansgar high school, graduating in 1911. He entered Hamilton Business College in Mason City graduating in 1913.
In June 1917, he married Margaret Jane Hume at St. Ansgar. The couple spent the next few years in Duluth, Minnesota, returning to St. Ansgar in 1920 where they lived until 1941, when they moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where he was employed at Pillsbury Mills until his death.
He was a member of Hennepin Methodist Church, Minneapolis, Minn. He entered Asbury hospital in Minneapolis Wednesday for minor surgery and died Friday.
He leaves his wife, children; Thomas, Jean, Susan, at home; Robert and William, St. Ansgar; sister, Alice, Chicago; brother, Thomas, Mound, Minn. He was preceded in death by a son, Burrell, his parents, one sister, Lela, and one brother, Cleve. Funeral will be here Monday with burial in St. Ansgar Cemetery.
