OSAGE BUSINESSMAN DIES;
RITES SATURDAYOsage, Iowa – Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. for James Alvis Holliday, 57, at Shellady’s Funeral Home, under the direction of the Rev. Glen Hartong. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Mr. Holliday, in good health until about 2 weeks ago, was stricken with an attack, and died suddenly at his home Wednesday morning.
Mr. Holliday was born March 18, 1887, at Bradleyville, Missouri. As a young man, he came to Mitchell County, where he made his home since.
On February 12, 1913, he married Iowa Morris, daughter of Lucinda and Abraham Morris, at Mitchell. They resided in Mitchell county ever since. He entered partnership with Peter Mickelson in the Osage Artificial Ice Company on April 1.
Survivors include his wife, Iowa Morris Holliday, 3 children; Mrs. Dale Naden, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Dempsey Huff, Salt Lake City; and James Morris Holliday, with the navy somewhere in the south Pacific. There are two grandchildren and two sisters.

James HollidayFuneral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. for James Alvis Holliday, 57, at Shelledy's Funeral Home under the direction of the Rev. Glenn Hartong. Mr. Holliday was in good health until about two weeks ago when he was stricken with an attack and died suddenly at his home when he morning, May 24, 1944. He was born March 18, 1887 in Bradleyville, Missouri.
As a young man came to Mitchell County, where he had made his home since. On February 12, 1913, he married Iowa Morris, a daughter of Lucinda and Abraham Morris at Mitchell.
To this union were born three children - James M,. AOF 2-c, now with the navy in the south Pacific; Mrs. Dale Naden of Rockford, Illinois, and Mrs. Dempsey Huff, now at Osage. There are two grandchildren, Lynn Harris Naden, 6, and James Dale Naden, 1; also two sisters, Mrs. N. P. Benson and Mrs. Walter Millet, of Arkansas, surviving.
Mr. Hilliday at an early age was baptized Eastern church at Tulsa, Oklahoma. "Happy" as he was always called, will be greatly missed by all his many friends in the community. He will be remembered as a very kind and loving husband and father, always doing for others most unselfish way. He was one of the kindest and best of neighbors.
Interment was in the Osage Cemetery. The many beautiful flowers as well as a large gathering of friends and neighbors testified to the esteem and love of his many friends.
