James “Bud” Morris Holliday, 86, Baileys Harbor, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
He was born May 23, 1921, in Osage, Iowa, the son of James and Iowa (Morris) Holliday.
Bud served his country in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1947, he met and married the love of his life, Betty Naden, in Zion, Ill. They raised three children in Zion while Bud owned and operated a water conditioning business in Waukegan, Ill. In 1975, they sold the business and enjoyed many years of travel, Door County being a frequent destination. They moved from Zion to Baileys Harbor in 1996.
Bud was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, the Shriners, the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, but his greatest joy came from putting a smile on someone’s face with a favorite joke.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Betty; his adoring children, Nancy (Bob) Callis, Boulder, Colo., Joan (Bryan Nelson) Holliday, Baileys Harbor, and Bill (Kathy) Holliday, Rockford, Ill.; and grandchildren, Sam Nelson and David, and Ben, Alina, John and Cecily Holliday.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Dorothy Naden and Doris Huff.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, at Zion United Methodist Church, Fish Creek, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 168, Egg Harbor, WI 54209.
Bud’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Rebhan and Dr. Arnold and to the staff of Unity Hospice and Scandia Village for their gracious care.Marshfield New Herald, Marshfield, Wisconsin, May 17, 2008
