Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, February 1st, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa for Ole I. Dahley, 89.
Mr. Dahley died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Adella Norby, in Nora Springs on Sunday, January 29, 1950. The Rev. S.O. Sorlien officiated and interment was in the Rock Creek cemetery.
Ole Iversen Dahley was born in Hardanger, Norway, on June 12, 1860 to Iver Nilsen and Elisabeth Seim Dahle. The family came to America in 1866 and settled near Decorah. They later moved to Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.
He was married to Ellen R. Knutson Schoger on December 25, 1886 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. Four children were born to this couple and he became stepfather to his wife’s children. The couple lived on their farm in Cedar Township until May 1912, when they moved to Nora Springs.
One daughter, Cora, who died in infancy; his wife; five stepchildren; two brothers; and two sisters preceded Mr. Dahley in death. Surviving are three children: Ira Dahley, Elmer Dahley, and Mrs. Adella Norby.
