Mrs. Anna Dynna was born at Hadeland, Norway on November 22, 1845 the oldest child of Hans Knutsen and Aase Larsdatter. In 1850 she came with her parents to America and the first four years of her sojourn in this country were spent in Wisconsin. In June 1854 she came to St. Ansgar, Iowa where she spent the days of her girlhood in the parental home.
On December 27, 1867, she was united in marriage to Anders Larsen Dynna at St. Ansgar, Iowa and on May 1, 1867 they moved to their home in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa where she continued to live until the time of her death. Her husband preceded her in death on March 27, 1912. To this union seven children were born. The following survive her: Marie, Lena, Andrea, and Lizzie, who are all at home, and Mrs. Clara Eidahl, two grandchildren and one great grandchild, all of Marion, ND. Also surviving her are two brothers; Hans Knudson, of St. Ansgar, and Lewis Knudson, of Veblen, SD; and two sisters, Mrs. Kari Elverum, of St. Ansgar, and Lise Chenous, of Argyle, WI.
During the sixty-one years Mrs. Dynna has lived in this community, she has been an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. She has been an unusually strong woman and enjoyed good health until about eight months ago. Since then her strength has been failing. During her illness the kind hands of her daughters have done everything in their power to lessen the suffering and give her the best of care.
She died at her home on December 11, 1929. The Rev. O.C. Myhre conducted funeral services at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church on December 15th. Interment was made in the nearby church cemetery.
