Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Carlson were held Sunday afternoon at the Osage Lutheran Church with the Rev. T.P. Solem officiating. Burial was at the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery. Mrs. Carlson died suddenly last Wednesday, December 22nd, 1948.
Kari Knudsdatter was born to Knud and Liv Grov Klemesrud on the Klemmetsrud farm in Hedalen, Valdres, Norway on March 28, 1865. When less than two years of age, her family immigrated to America, settling temporarily near Black Earth, Dane County, Wisconsin. Two years later, the family moved to Cedar Township in Mitchell County. She was confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church of which her parents were charter members.
She was married to Carl Carlson of Trondhjem, Norway on December 13, 1893. They lived for a year in Cedar Township, before moving to their own farm in Rudd Township, Floyd County, Iowa. Her husband died on June 9, 1930. She continued to make her home on the farm until about ten years ago when she moved to Osage to make her home with her daughters, Lena and Christina. She then became an active member of the Osage Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Carlson was the last member of an early Mitchell County pioneer family. Her parents, six brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Three daughters survive: Mrs. Lena Buckmaster and Mrs. Gladys Davidson, both of Osage; and Christina of Tampa, Florida. Four grandchildren also survive. A daughter, Ina and a son, Knut, preceded her in death.
