JOSEPH RECKNER FUNERAL SET AT RICEVILLE

Riceville – Joseph Reckner, 71, died Sunday at the Veterans Hospital, Iowa City. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Carl Wuerffel St. Ansgar, will officiate. Burial will be in Riceville Cemetery with Riceville Funeral Home in charge.

Born June 2, 1890, near Acme, he was the son of Joseph and Helen Yahn Reckner. He was married to Rose Worple, June 26, 1918, at Riceville. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion Roy Gue Post 244.

Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mildred) Evans, Riceville; Mrs. Harlan (Marie) Day, Union Grove, Wis.; Mrs. Antone (Grace) Tonn, Waterloo; four brothers; Frank, Riceville, August, Ben and Charles of Charles City; and a sister Mrs. W. A. Ripley, Cresco.

Joseph C. Reckner

Joseph Christian Reckner was born on June 2, 1890, son of Joseph and Helena Reckner, nee (Yahn), on a farm near Acme, Iowa, and passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Sunday, July 16, 1961, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 14 days.

He spent most of his life farming near Acme with the exception of time served in the armed services during World War I, and was a charter member of the Roy Gue Post of the American Legion of Riceville, Iowa.

On June 26, 1918, he was united in marriage to Rose Worple. To this union was born three daughters, Marie (Mrs. Harlan Day); Mildred (Mrs. Kenneth Evans) of Riceville; and Grace (Mrs. Anton Tonn) of Waterloo, Iowa.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Rose; three daughters; seven (?) grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W. A. Ripley of Cresco; and four brothers: Charles, August and Ben of Charles City, and Frank of Riceville and many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

He was baptized and confirmed and was a life long member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Riceville.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and a great friends to all children who will long remember him.
