RICEVILLE, IOWA - Doris Naomi Vogel, 93, of Riceville passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Riceville with burial in the Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, at the Conway Funeral Home in Riceville. There will be a 6 p.m. Prayer Service on Wednesday, November 10.

Doris was born on July 21, 1917, in Traer, Iowa, the daughter of Amos and Millicent (Baughman) West. Doris attended and graduated from Malcom High School. She attended one year of college at Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls.

Doris married Louis Henry Vogel on Oct. 1, 1940, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, Iowa, where they raised four children. Doris worked at Rath Packing Plant in Waterloo. She and her husband farmed in Tama and Buckingham, Iowa, before moving to the Riceville area in 1957. She was employed at Mason's Food Market for 27 years.

She is survived by her two sons, David of Marshalltown and Thomas of Waco, Texas; two daughters, Catherine of Riceville and Mary (Don) Vogel-Brown of Ankeny; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Catherine Robinson of Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her parents; and two sisters, Mae and Margaret.
