OSAGE, IOWA - Georgia Emma Carter, 95, of Osage died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage with the Rev. Anna Blaedel officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 25, in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and will continue one hour before services at the church.

Georgia was born July 27, 1915, on her grandparent's farm near Lime Springs, Iowa, the daughter of John "Jack" and Abbie (Ruesink) Metz. She graduated from Osage High School in 1933.

Georgia married Leo Carter on April 28, 1934, in Osage. They farmed near Osage and moved to town in 1983. Georgia was a high school secretary for Osage Community Schools for 21 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School. Georgia was a member of Osage Wa-Tan-Ye and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing and craft work.

Georgia is survived by one daughter, Rozanne (John) Mehmen of Osage; and her grandchildren, Kelli (Matt) Miller and their children, Madeline, Olivia, and Rafe of Osage; Kyle (Amy) Mehmen and their children, Connor and Paige of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo in 1984; an infant son, Burton Carter, a daughter, Rita Carter; two sisters, Ada Metz and Viola Angell; and one brother, John P. Metz, II.
