TROGE, KNOFT, FREIHOLZ

Gustav Troge was born in the province of Pommern, Germany on March 24, 1850, to the Frederick Troge family. His father was born December 20, 1819 and died June 8, 1891. His mother, Gustina Knoft, was born Nov 22, 1819 and died Nov. 22, 1894. Both parents are buried at St. John's Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Township, Mitchell county, Iowa.

Gustav came to America as a child with his parents in the 1840's.

Elizabeth Freiholz was born August 4, 1858 in Germany. Her father had come to America and later wrote to Germany for the rest of the family to come.

According to Elizabeth's obituary, they were married in Charles City. Their children included: Lena Emelia, born December 16, 1878; Emma Matilda, born May 20, 1880; Charles Henry, born March 20, 1882; Albert William, born November 25, 1883; Clara Amelia, born June 9, 1885; and Minnie Augusta, born March 5, 1887. These six children were born in Mitchell County.

The younger six children were: Bertha Marqureta, born February 28, 1889; Wilhelm Edward, born June 25, 1891; Dorothea Louise, born May 30, 189; Vera Renata, born August 2, 1897; Anna Rosella, born May 27, 1900, and Agnes Easter, born December 12, 1902.

Gustav Troge died April 21, 1909. Elizabeth Frieholdtz Troge died May 17, 1936. They are buried at Calvary Cemetery (St. John's) six miles southwest of Osage.
