Ernest Brost, of 215 W. Cleveland St., Marshfield , died at 4 a.m. Today (Saturday) at the Marshfield Convalescent Center , where he had been a resident since April 6, 1971. He was 77 years of age.
Rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. George C. Passehl, pastor, officiating. Internment will be made in Gate of Heaven cemetery.
Friends may call at the Rembs Chapel beginning 2 p.m. Monday. Three services will be held Monday at the funeral home - Rosary-Alter and Missionary Societies service at 3 p.m., Knights of Columbus rosary service at 7:30 p.m., and parish vigil services at 9 p.m.
Mr. Brost was born Oct. 4, 1896, in Stacyville, Mitchell Co., Iowa , the son of Lambert Brost and Margaret (May) Brost where he was educated, and as a young man came to Rozellville with his parents.
He was married Nov. 20, 1923, at St. Andrew's Catholic in Rozellville to the former Florence D. Weber, who survives him.
He had operated cheese factories at Fenwood, Auburndale, and Rudolph an in later years farmed in the town of Lincoln. Following his retirement from farming in 1954, he had resided in Marshfield. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society of St. John's Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two son; Norman, Conrath, and Claude, Allentown; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Strohbusch and Mrs. Donald (Olive) Fischer, both of Watertown, and Mrs. Gust (Virjean) Harsteudt, Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Leo and Lawrence, both of Marshfield; four sisters, Mrs, Al Griesbach and Mrs. Joe Folz, both of Route 3, Stratford, Mrs. Henry Linzmeier, Blenker, and Mrs. Gustie Bleichrot, Muskego; and 25 grandchildren.
Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
