Mona Resident Died
(July 28, 1964)Funeral services for Alfred J. Larson, 78, lifelong Mona resident, who died in Austin last Tuesday following a long illness, were held at Mona Lutheran church last Thursday. The Rev. Stanley Klemesrud, church pastor was in charge. Burial was at Austin.
Alfred John Larson was born on November 19, 1885 at Mona the son of John and Martha Larson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Mona by the Rev. J. Muller Eggen. he attended the Mona school.
He was married to Irene Dock March 1, 1924, at the Lutheran parsonage by the Rev. C.S. Vang.
He was employed in the culvert factory in Lyle and also for the same firm when they moved to Minneapolis. Later he returned to Mona and was employed for the Illinois Central railroad until his retirement in 1952.
He suffered a stroke on October 14, 1963 from which he never recovered. He had been a patient at Memorial hosptial in Osage and a resident at a retirement home in Austin during his illness.
Mr. Larson was president of the Mona school board nine years, and he and his wife were custodians at the Mona school for several year.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; one son Idore of Austin; five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mina Nelson of Mona and Mrs. Newton Bigelow of Austin.
He was preceded by his parents, one son, Joy William, who died in 1952, three brothers and two sisters.
