64, Little Cedar Resident
Died. (1964)Funeral services for Mrs. Eugene Havens, 64, were held last Thursday afternoon at Little Cedar Methodist church. Mrs. Havens died at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage of a heart attack on December 28. She had not been ill prior to her death.
Ruth M. Ekleberry was born April 24, 1900, the daughter of Howard and Claribel Ekleberry, in Boonsteel, S. D. She received her early education in South Dakota and Nebraska, graduating from high school in Wesington Springs, S.D. She taught school in South Dakota four years.
Her marriage to Eugene Havens took place June 6, 1923. The family moved to Iowa in 1950, settling on their present farm near Little Cedar.
Mrs. Havens was an active member of the Little Cedar Methodist church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Loren Eugene, who died in infancy, and one sister, Harriet.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene; one daughter, Doris, Mrs. Orley Carlson of Olivia, Minn.; one son, Arthur C. Havens of Traer; eight grandchildren, five sisters; Mrs. Aoida Alloway of Casper, Wyo.; Romona and Melissa of Loveland, Colo.; Mrs. A. B. Havens of Gilman; Mrs. Gordon Keller of Spencer, Neb.; and one brother, Lowell Russell Ekleberry of Minneapolis.
