John Spartz' Son Died;
Burial at Arlington Cemetery

Funeral services for John Nicholas Spartz, III, age 3, son of Lieutenant Commander John N. Spartz, and Mrs. Ruth Fandel Spartz of Virginia Beach Va., were held last Tuesday at Oceana Naval Air Station chapel. Burial was in Arlington National cemetery.

The child had been in ill health since last fall, and under went surgery prior to his death.

John Spartz was born in Florida.

Surviving are his parents, seven brothers and sisters, Kathy, Steven, Michael, Paula, Michelle, Thomas and Joseph, and three grandparents, Mrs. Bertha Spartz of Osage, and Mr. and Mrs. John Fandel of Rock Falls.

Attending the funeral from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Spartz and Marilyn, Mrs. Bertha Spartz of Osage and Mrs. Fandel of Rock Falls.

John Spartz III

OSAGE, IOWA — John Nicholas Spartz III, infant son of Lt. Cmdr. and Mrs. John N. Spartz Jr., died Dec. 27 in the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Va. A Mass of Angels was said in
Oceana Naval Air Station Chapel, and burial was in Arlington National Cemetery.

Surviving are his parents, three sisters, four brothers, all of Virginia Beach, Va.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Fandel, Rock Falls, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Spartz, Osage.
