Sunday MorningMrs. Mary Owen passed awy at her home on east Main Street, Osage, Sunday morning, after a long illness. She suffered a stroke of paralysis some months ago, and had gradually failed since.
Mary Eva Miller was born January 15, 1852, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of George W. and Maria Miller, and went forth from this life Sunday, May 24, 1931, honored by the Lord with seventy-nine years of life on this earth.
She was early married in Wyandotte, Michigan to R. F. Greene. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Eva Whipple, Cleveland, Ohio; Fred Green, Wyandotte, Michigan; Mrs. John Strong, Riceville; and Roy, who preceded her in death.
Some years after the death of Mr. Greene she was united in marriage to Mr. Charles Owen, and in 1899 came to Osage from Detrait, Michigan. To this union two surviving children were born: Beatrice Owen, who cared for her mother during these years, and Ralph M. Owen, of Inglewood, California.
When quite young she was baptized into the Christian faith and joned the Methodist Episcopal Church, and in her early years was a very active and tireless worker in the church, serving for many years as organist.
Mrs. Own was a refined, dainty, lovely-spirited woman, a devote wife and mother. Her passing is deeply lamented by her host of friends and neighbors.
