Primary Teacher,
Margaret Casey,
Claimed By Death

Miss Margaret Casey, a well known Osage primary teacher, succumbed Monday afternoon to the illness that has confined her to her bed for many weeks, and the funeral was held this morning at 9:30 o'clock at Sacred Heart Church - the church of whose congregation she had been a member since the building of the first edifice more than forty years ago. Reverend Fr. J. P. Martin had charge of the service. [Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery]

Margaret Casey was born March 5, 1878, in Floyd Township, Floyd County, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Casey - the fifth child in the family, and the fifth to be taken.

She was educated in the local rural school, and at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, specializing in primary teaching. Her teaching career began thrity five years ago in rural schools, and she has followed the profession with marked success. She taught in several Iowa towns, then three years in Michigan, N. D., five years in Stocket, Montana, and the last eleven years - her best years, she often remarked - in the Washington School, Osage.

Her final term of work was interrupted twelve weeks ago by her last illness. At the time she was stricken she was president of the Wa-Tan-Ye Club, and her going is a sad blow to that organization, and in a good many other places where her presence was an inspiration and of value. As has been always noted, her life was a continuouis service to others.

Her immediate surviving relatives are two brothers and a sister, Dan, Ben, and Nellie; three nephews, Lawrence, Norbert and Paul Casey, and a niece, Kathleen Casey; also her aged aunt, Miss Susan Waters, all of Osage.
