Lucile M. Larson, age 87, of Kearney, Nebraska, died on Sunday, January 20, 2002, at the St. John’s Center in Kearney.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, January 26, at the First Presbyterian Church, Kearney. Rev. Matthew T. Robinson officiated and burial will be at a later date in the Osage Cemetery.

Lucile was born on May 2, 1914 in Anoka, Minnesota, to Joseph and Lucy (Jansen) Larson. She graduated from the Osage High School in 1930. Lucile then moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1933 and started work with the Bell Telephone Co. Lucile moved to Kearney in 1989 to join her sister, Marion Melson shortly after her retirement from the Pacific Telesis Telephone Co. in Los Angeles.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kearney, where she was active in church circles and coffee clubs and the Kearney Newcomers Club. She was also a member of the Pioneer Telephone Association and served on it’s board for many years. Lucile enjoyed extensive travel abroad.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Harriet Larson and Marion Melson.

Those that survive her include her nephews, Karl and Kathie Melson of Aurora, Nebraska and Kirk and Kelly Melson of Kearney, Nebraska; a niece, Christa Otaka of Honolulu, Hawaii.
