Ruth M. Morse, age 83, of Osage, died on Thursday, January 17, 2002, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice unit in Osage.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 21, at the United Church of Christ in Osage. Rev. Robert Melhorn officiated and interment was in the Osage Cemetery. The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, was in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth was born on August 18, 1918 in Tripoli, the daughter of Stanley R. and Sadie (Messinger) Smith. The family moved to Osage in 1919. After attending Grinnell College, Ruth worked for a law firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ruth was united in marriage to Albert L. Morse on May 12, 1950 and they made their home in Osage. Albert preceded her in death on March 4, 1972.

Ruth was a member of the United Church of Christ, PEO, Mitchell County Hospital Auxiliary, was active in Girl Scouts and an active member of the Republican Party. She enjoyed and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, horses, dogs, and following fire trucks.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert L. Morse; parents, Stanley R. and Sadie Smith; and a sister, Jean Wilson.

Those that survive her include her son, Stanley and Betsy of Windom, Minnesota and their children, Albert J., Jamie, Jared, Isaac, Hannah and Elizabeth; a daughter, Rebecca of Moline, Illinois and her children, Robert and Abbey; a daughter, Sarah and husband, Glen of Northwood, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Justin and one to be announced in April; and nieces and nephews.
