Rose Catherine (Comisky) Halbach, 1922-2003,

Mass of Christian Burial for Rose Catherine Halbach, age 81, was held Saturday, June 28, 2003 at St. Stephen Catholic Student Center, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Father Mel Hemann was officiant and interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Flag Presentation was by American Legion Post #237, Cedar Falls. Rose died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at her home in Cedar Falls.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, St. Patrick Catholic Church or Western Home Communities.

Rose was born February 12, 1922 in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Clement and Ruth Agnes (Byrnes) Comisky. She received her B.S.N. degree from Mt. Mercy College, School of Nursing and went on to serve her country in the United States Navy during World War II.

She was united in marriage to John F. Halbach in Osage on August 21, 1945.

Rose was employed as a registered nurse at Osage Community Hospital, then Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo and finally at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. She was a member of the American Red Cross disaster team.

Rose's parents preceded her in death.

Her survivor's include her husband John of Cedar Falls; three sons Thomas (Sally) Halbach of Boise, Idaho; Gerald (Patrice) Halbach of North Oaks, Minnesota, and Michael Halbach of Burnsville, Minnesota; three daughters Anne (John) Hanson of Iowa City; Jane (Richard) Westly of Madison, Wisconsin, Patricia (Harold) Moore of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren and sister, Marcella (Carl) Obermeier of Osseo, Minnesota.
