A memorial service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 415 West 53rd St., Davenport, Iowa on Saturday, July 7, 2001 at 2 p.m. for Lois Maurine Havig. No flowers please, instead make contributions to Prince of Peace Memorial Fund for Lois Havig.

Lois was born June 22, 1934 the eldest daughter of Harold and Frances Halverson. Lois attended school in St. Ansgar and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1952. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Lois married Wayland Havig. They were the parents of a daughter, Laurie Frances Havig and Russell Wayland Havig. They have five grandchildren; Joseph Loerzel, Jonathan Loerzel, Sara Loerzel, Jessica Havig, Michael Havig; and one great-granddaughter, Kyaunna Loerzel, all living in Davenport.

Lois was employed at Home Trust & Savings Bank in Osage for three years until moving to Riverside, California in 1957; then to Mason City, Iowa and moved to Davenport in 1966 where she was employed by the Davenport School System for 22 1/2 years. She then worked at John Deere, Mt. Joy Plant and Sear Manufacturing and for Menard Maintenance retiring in 1997.

Lois enjoyed music, played the piano, organ and sang in the church choir. Her hobbies were yard work, sewing, crocheting and working jig-saw puzzles. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and her pets. She enjoyed traveling in their R-V for 2 1/2 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Those that survive her include her husband Wayland; their children, Laurie Loerzel and Russell Havig and his fiance Joann VanGorder all of Davenport; a sister, Sylvia Sprung of LaMoile, Illinois, and her brother, Keith Halvorson of Leawood, Kansas.

LOIS MAURINE HAVIG

DAVENPORT, IOWA - Lois Maurine Havig was born June 22, 1934, the eldest daughter of Harold and Frances Halverson. Lois attended school in St. Ansgar, and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1952. Lois was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

She is survived by her husband, Wayland, and her children, Laurie Loerzel, and Russell Havig, and his fiancée, Joann VanGorder, all of Davenport; a sister, Sylvia Sprung, of LaMoille, Ill.; and her brother, Keith Halverson, of Leawood, Kan.

Lois was married to Wayland for 46 years. They had one daughter, Laurie Frances Havig, born on June 25, 1956. Russell Wayland Havig was born on Nov. 22, 1963. They have five grandchildren, Joseph Loerzel, Jonathan Loerzel, Sara Loerzel, Jessica Havig and Michael Havig; and one great-granddaughter, Kyaunna Loerzel. All are living in Davenport.
