Mitchell Woman Who Succumbed on Visit Buried; Rites Held

MITCHELL, IOWA - Funeral services for Mrs. J. H. Bamford, 77, who died from pneumonia followed by a heart attack at the home of her daughter, and husband, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Gillette at Fargo, North Dakota, where she and Mr. Bamfoid had gone to spend the winter, were held Saturday afternoon at the Bamford home.

Her son-in-law, the Rev. George McNary, a former pastor of the Congregational church here, was in charge, assisted by the Rev. Stiles Lessley of the Osage Congregational Church.

Mrs. Bamford was born at Castle Rock, Minnesota, and came when a child with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Rice, to Mitchell, which had since been her home.

She was married to John H. Bamford in 1877. To this union six children were born: Mrs. H. W. Gillette, Fargo, North Dakota; Mrs. Charles Indra, Lena, Illinois; Mrs. Stanley Colby, Minnewaukon, North Dakota; Mrs. George McNary, Little Tails, Minnesota; Herbert, Minnewaukon, North Dakota, and John, Jr., of Waterloo, Iowa. All except Mrs. Colby were present at the funeral. There are 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
