Clara (Winnor) Staff, 1878-1966

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Staff, 88, of rural Osage were held Monday afternoon at Rock Creek Lutheran church. Mrs. Staff died Friday at Mitchell County Memorial hospital following a brief illness.

The Rev. Donald Berg, church pastor, was in charge of the services. C.R. Champion and Sons made arrangements and burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Clara Olava Winnor was born August 19, 1878 in Floyd County to Gunnar and Martha Odden Winnor. She lost her mother during infancy and lived with relatives until her father remarried. Her father died when she was ten years old. She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran church, attended rural school near her home, and later in Osage, growing to adulthood at Meroa.

On February 24, 1909 she was united in marriage to John Staff. They lived on a farm where she continued to live until her death.

Surviving are her five children: Hans, Mena and Olaf of Osage; Lloyd, of Rudd; and Jean of Grafton. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and a half-sister Stella (Mrs. Henry) Hardin of Minneapolis.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John, who died fourteen years ago, two brothers, Lauritz and Martin, and a half-sister, Freda (Mrs. Oscar) Thompson.
