Matilda (Olsen) Norby, 1889-1970

Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Norby, 81, who died December 8, 1970 at Faith Home in Osage, were held Friday afternoon. The Rev. Obert Hoven, church pastor, was in charge of the rites at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and burial was in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.

C.R. Champion and Sons made the arrangements.

Matilda Olsen was born August 8, 1889 in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, to Lars Iver and Anna Regina Larson Olsen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

Henry Hjalmer Norby and Matilda Olsen were united in marriage February 22, 1912 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. They lived in the Meroa area all their married life. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Gertrude) Crowell of Osage, Mrs. Richard (Lorraine) Creager of Sumner, Iowa; one son, Harvey Norby of Osage; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Clara Olsen and one brother, Lawrence Olsen, both of Osage.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Hjalmer Norby, an infant daughter, her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
