Martin Simonsen, 1872-1945
Martin Simonsen was born on December 30, 1872 to Erik and Karine Simonsen.
On December 6, 1905, he was married to Susanna Caroline Huset, the ceremony being performed at St. Ansgar by the Rev. Urness. After their marriage they located on a farm in Rudd Township, Floyd County, and from there they moved to Downing, Wisconsin, where they lived about two years.
Later they moved to the old Simonsen homestead in Rudd Township, Floyd County, Iowa, where he lived until the time of his death. To this marriage one daughter, Evelyn, was born.
Mr. Simonsen died on Sep 26, 1945. Funeral services were held at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church with the Rev. C. B. Gunderson in charge.
Burial was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife and leaves to mourn his loss, one daughter, Evelyn.
