Held At Deer Creek Lutheran

Funeral services for Hans Emil Hansen, 88, of St. Ansgar, who died January 2, were held January 5 at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, with the Rev. E. C. Franke officiating.

Hans Emil Hansen was born January 1, 1894 in Barton township, Worth county, the son of Mons and Hansine (Hansen) Hansen. He was baptized at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, June 10, 1894 by the Rev. Johann Olson. He grew to manhood northwest of Otranto and attended the early school north of Otranto.

Mr. Hansen married Myrtie Evelyn Pike September 30, 1917. He was confirmed at the Otranto Methodist church by the Rev. Wesley Belling.

On November 28, 1948 he was confirmed at Deer Creek Lutheran church by the Rev. Olaf Langehough. Mr. Hansen served on the finance committee for the new church. The Hansens farmed in the Meltonville area, and moved to St. Ansgar in 1958.

Mr. Hansen was preceded in death by his parents; step mother; infant son, Donald Emil; three sisters, Hannah, Martha and Elnora; two half sisters, Ana and Caroline; one half brother, Olaf.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtie; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Dallas) Borcherding of St. Ansgar; five grandchildren, Donald Borcherding of Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Larry (Linda) Bol of Valparaiso, Indiana; Mrs. Stephen (Marsha) Burd, Fennville, Mich.; Michael Borcherding of St. Ansgar and Marvin Borcherding of Mason City; eight great grandchildren; a half sister, Grace Weber of Fullerton, Calif.; a half brother, Devere Hansen of South Pasadena, Calif.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Franke in charge of committal services.
