AFTER SEVERE STROKEFuneral services for Mrs. Herman Falk, 71, were held Tuesday, March 29, 1949, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. T. Eickleberg officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Falk died Friday evening, March 25, 1949, after suffering a severe stroke two weeks before, which left her paralyzed.
Hedwig (Hattie) Bertha Albrecht was born in Berlin, Germany, November 24, 1877, the daughter of Mortiz and Augusta Saasse Albrecht. She was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran faith and came to the United States with her parents two years later. They lived for a time in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later in Minnesota. When she was eight years old, they moved to St. Ansgar and she lived the rest of her life there.
Confirmed in early youth by the Rev. E. Hantel, she remained a faithful member of the Immanuel Lutheran church all her life, taking an active interest in the services and projects of the congregation.
September 20, 1899, she was united in marriage to Herman E. Falk. Three sons were born to them: Sherwin of Northwood, LaVerne of St. Ansgar, and Victor of Chicago, Illinois. Victor preceded her in death in 1935.
Mrs. Falk was affiliated with a heart ailment for many years. Although she suffered several heart attacks, she always overcame them. Mr. and Mrs. Falk would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this fall.
Surviving are her husband and two sons; one sister, Mrs. Ben F. Lowman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Erwin and Arthur Albrecht, both of St. Ansgar; and four grandchildren, Gloria of Northwood and Janice, David and Dorothy of St. Ansgar.
