Edwin G. Beyer

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Edwin Gustav Beyer, of 103½ Third Avenue SE, an employee of "Nick's," and a Cedar Rapids resident for 20 years, died Monday.

He was born March 4, 1908 in Mitchell County, Iowa.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Hansen of St. Ansgar and Mrs. T. E. Zitnak, Austin, Minnesota.

The body was taken from the Turner Chapel to Schroeder and Houg Funeral Home, St. Ansgar for services and burial.

Funeral services for Edwin G. Beyer were held Thursay March 10 at the Schroeder and Houg Funeral Home here, with the Rev. Norman E. Bethke, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran church, officiating.

Edwin Gustav Julius Beyer, son of Richard J. and Anna Louise (Rachut) Beyer, was born March 4, 1908 in Rock Township, Mitchell county. He was baptized April 5, 1908 in Rock Township by the Rev. Johannes Becker and was confirmed April 9, 1922 by the Rev. Paul Brammer of Immuanuel Evangelical Lutheran church at St. Ansgar.

He spent his earl life in the St. Ansgar, Osage and Manchester vicinities, working for the Illinois Central Railroad. His later years were spent in Cedar Rapids, where he died Monday, March 7, at the age of 58 years and three days.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, his parents and a brother, Arthur. Survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Lloyd (Wilma) Hansen of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Thomas E. (Verna) Zitnak of Austin, Minn.; one niece and three nephews, Richard A. Hansen of Anaheim, California, Thomas Dean Zitnak and Dennis Gene Zitnak of Austin, and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Roy Rachut, Elmer Steinberg, Arthur Rachut, Albert Beyer, Sherwin Kittleson and W. P. Dieterich.

Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Betke in charge of the committal services.
