Funeral for Mrs. Arp Is Conducted at Osage
OSAGE, May 16.—Mrs. Julius Arp, northeast of Osage, died Sunday morning. Funeral services at Champion Funeral home were conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon by the Reverend T. P. Solem.

#3:Margaretha (Mary) Elizabeth Jansen was born March 23, 1866 at Brodersby, Rendsburg-Eckernforde, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany to Peter Jansen and Johanna Petersen.
She emigrated in 1867 or 1868 with her parents to Davenport, Scott County, Iowa, the family later moved to Tama County, Iowa.
Mary married Julius Edward Arp on March 1, 1896 at Homer, Benton, Iowa.
The couple had five children: Henry Peter (1896-1951); Edward William (1898-1989); Elsie Sophia (1899-1981); John (1901-1938) and George (1904-1974).
Found in the 1900, 1910 censuses living on a farm at Homer, Benton, Iowa:
1900: Julius Ark 34, Mary R Ark 33, Henry Ark 3, Edward Ark 2, Elsie Ark 5/12, Gerhard Jacobsen 24.
1910: Julius Arp 44, Mary Arp 44, Henry Arp 13, Eddie Arp 12, Essie Arp 10, John Arp 9, George Arp 6.
The family moved by train to a farm in Burr Oak, Mitchell, Iowa in the spring of 1910.

Mary Arp died May 14, 1933 at Burr Oak, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

Obituary from Osage Press News:Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Arp, nee Jansen, was born March 23, 1866, in Brodersby, Germany, and passed away peacefully, May 14, 1933, at the age of 67 years, 1 month, and 19 days.
Mrs. Arp came to America with her parents at the age of two years. In 1896, she was united in marriage with Julius Arp, and to this union, five children were born.
In 1910, the family moved to its present home in Burr Oak Township, Mitchell County, where they have been rated among the substantial families of the community, respected and liked by all.
Mrs. Arp began to fail in health about two years ago and six months ago she underwent an operation for cancer. After six weeks spent in a hospital, she returned to her home to await her final summons.
She is survived by her husband and children: Mrs. Louis Koster, St. Ansgar; Henry, Edward, John, and George, of Osage; a brother, Henry Jansen, of Dysart; and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Blocker, of Traer. There are also five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Champion funeral home Tuesday, May 16, at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. T.P. Solem, pastor of the Osage Lutheran church, and interment was made in the Osage cemetery.
