Spent All His Life on St. Ansgar Farm
ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- James Gilbertson, age 66, died Thursday afternoon following a stroke suffered November 18 at the farm home south of town, wehre he was born and had lived all of his live.
Surviving is one sister, Miss Nellie Gilbertson, two brothers, George and Lewis, all of St. Ansgar, also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the farm home with Schroeder and Houg funeral directors in charge, and Mrs. J. H. Baker of Osage having charge of the services.
Burial will be in the First Lutheran Church cemetery.

Funeral services were conducted for James Gilbertson at the Gilbertson home south of town at 2 P.M. on Monday, November 30, 1942. Mrs. J.H. Baker of Osage conducted the services, which consisted of readings from the Bible, and from Science and Health with key to the scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. Music was rendered by Mrs. Charles Thacher and Mrs. L.B. Waniess, accompanied by Miss Clare Moe. The song, beautifully rendered, were "Saw Ye My Saviour," and "Rock of Ages." Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.
James Gilbertson was born on the home farm on June 25, 1876, and passed away on November 26, 1942 at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 1 day. He spent his life in the home community except for about three years when he conducted a barber shop in North Dakota.
He had been in faily good health until he had a stroke on the morning of November 18, from which he seemed to be recovering rapidly until he was again striken on Tuesday night. From this he never rallied and slept peacefully away at 5 P.M. on Thanksgiving day.
The pallbearers at the funeral were Alfred Hansen, Tom Thompson, Herbert Gutman, Irvin Dieterich, Julius Kittleson and Martin Halverson.
