Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar on Monday afternoon at 2:oo o'clock for Mrs. Sarah A. Grovo. The services were conducted by the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Sarah Anderdal Grovo was born on December 26, 1860, in Hemsedal, Norway, and came to Mower county, Minnesota, with her parents in 1862. She was confirmed by the Rev. Ostby in Red Oak Grove church near Blooming Prairie, Minn. On October 9, 1902, she was united in marriage to Olaus Grovo of St. Ansgar. They made their home on a farm six miles northeast of St. Ansgar and in 1920 they retired from the farm, having purchased a home in town. Mr. Grovo passed away in February, 1929. Mrs. Grovo has been a member of the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar since 1914.
In August, 1944, she fell and fractured a hip and was taken to the St. Olaf hospital in Austin where she remained until January of this year, when she was moved to the home of a niece, Mrs. Robert Johns of Blooming Prairie, Minn. Mrs. Grovo had been confined to her bed for the past year. Complications set in and she passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, November 3, 1945 at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 7 days.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Rose Wahl of Austin, and a niece, Mrs. Robert Johns of Blooming Prairie, Minn.
