Funeral services for Mrs. Ennert C. Groth, 60, of Minneapolis, were held January 11, 1968 at Our Savior's Lutheran church, Minneapolis, with Pastors Sorteberg and Hoyme officiating. Burial was at First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar with Pastor Comnick of First Lutheran church, officiating.
Gertrude Dorothy Stoddard was born July 6, 1908 at Kenyon, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Stoddard. She was baptized and confirmed in First Evangelical Lutheran church at Kenyon. After graduation from the Kenyon high school, she entered nurses training at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin, where she received her R.N. degree. She practiced her profession until her marriage on July 27, 1934 to Ennert C. Groth of St. Ansgar.
After their marriage they resided in Atchison, Kan. where their two sons were born. In 1941 she, with her family, moved to Minneapolis where they became members of Our Savior's Lutheran church. Mrs. Groth had been an active member in the various women's organizations of the church, as well as the Auxiliaries of the Ebenezer Home Society, Fairview hospital, and Plymouth Youth Center. She was always ready to lend a helping hand where-ever needed. Last September she was stricken with an illness from which she could not recover and died at the Swedish hospital on January 9, 1968. Surviving are her husband, Ennert; son, Charles, son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Groth, three grandchildren, Matthew, David and Susan Groth; her mother, Mrs. Mathilda Stoddard, all of Minneapolis, and two brothers, Lloyd Stoddard of Rochester and James Stoddard of Northfield, Minn.
Relative and friends in attendance at the funeral in Minneapolis were from St. Ansgar, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Tollefson, Mr. and Mrs. Wm A. Groth, M.A. Houg, Conrad Groth, Mrs. I.L. Wahl, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Warrington, Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Brenna.
