OSAGE, IOWA - Gilbert Edward Erdmann, 88, of Osage died Friday (Dec. 18, 2009) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Paul Brown and Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will be at the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278.A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.

Note: Gilbert was the son of Edward and Andrena (Anderson) Erdmann and married Eleanor White.

OSAGE, IOWA -- Gilbert Edward Erdmann, age 88, of Osage, died Friday (Dec. 18, 2009) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Gilbert was born on February 17, 1921, in Faribault, Minnesota, the son of Arthur and Eda (Morsching) Erdmann. He attended Osage schools. Gilbert served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
He married Eleanor White on July 4, 1948. Gilbert drove school bus and was a bus mechanic for Osage schools for many years. He also worked for Winnebago Industries and drove the transport bus for himself and co-workers from Osage to Forest City. Gilbert retired in 1983.
Gilbert is survived by five children: Kenneth (Mary Kay) Erdmann of Plymouth, Judith (Joel) Voaklander of Osage, Cheryl (Alan) Adams of Osage, Kevin Erdmann of Osage, Christine (Troy) Levenhagen of Mason City; grandchildren: Doug Erdmann, Dawn Erdmann, Ben (Jen) Voaklander, Darin (Tracie) Voaklander, Brent Voaklander, Nathan Voaklander, Travis Adams, Christopher (Christina) Adams, Stephanie (Duane) Thompson, Courtney, Jona and Cameron Levenhagen; great-grandchildren: Haley, William and Adam Voaklander, Lauren, Gwen, Ava and Brycen Voaklander, Johonna, and Nathaniel Thompson, and Eleanor Adams; and one sister, Eveline Sorg of Naples, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Eleanor, in 2005.
