Amos Lundene, 1887-1950

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Deer Creek Lutheran church, west of Carpenter, for Amos Lundene, 63, who died at his farm home near Otranto Saturday. He had not been ill previously and was helping fill silo when he suffered a fatal heart attack. The Rev. O.A. Langehough of St. Ansgar officiated.

Burial was made in the Rock Creek cemetery near Osage.

Amos Lundene was born May 19, 1887 in Rudd Township of Floyd county, south of Osage, the eldest child of Anton and Anne Marie Norby Lundene. He spent his boyhood there, graduating from the rural school and from St. Ansgar seminary. He was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church.

On January 9, 1912, he was married to Clara C. Luder, of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. The couple lived until 1928 on a farm south of Osage. The family then moved to a farm near Mitchell, Iowa, and then to a farm near Otranto, where Mr. and Mrs. Lundene have lived since 1932.

Survivors include his wife and seven children: Mrs. Lawrence (Adeline) Troe, of Carpenter; Mrs. Walter (Clarice) Anderson, of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin; Mrs. Russell (Mildred) Parmenter of Austin, Minnesota; Mrs. Carl (Violet) Rowe of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; Curtis Lundene and Mrs. Marvin (Dorothy) Anderson, of Austin, Minnesota; Mrs. Rueben (Betty) Kroneman, of Mitchell, along with fifteen grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Hans Lundene, of Rudd; and four sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Alice) Larson, of Osage; Mrs. Lloyd (Cora) Larson, of Rudd; Mrs. Ervin (Mabel) Nelson, of Waterloo; and Mrs. Elza (Ida) Steelman, of Yakima, Washington.

One sister, Mrs. Olga Horgen, preceded him in death.
