Russell Bertram Lunde, 64, died Sunday morning, June 18, 1961, at the Mental Health Institute at Independence, Iowa, where he had been a patient since February 14, 1956. He had suffered a heart attack Tuesday afternoon, June 13th. Mrs. Lunde and her brother, George H. Marshall, went to Independence Thursday to visit him. Mrs. Lunde was leaving for Independence again Sunday morning when the death message came.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday June 20th, in the Nora Springs Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Howard Eldrenkamp, church pastor, and by the Rev. Amedee Fredette of the local Lutheran church. Burial was in Park cemetery, with the Sheckler Funeral home in charge.

Mr. Lunde was born on December 12, 1897 north of Nora Springs, in Mitchell County. He was one of five children of Gabriel and Anna Christina (Heggerusta) Lunde, both of whom were natives of Norway. A sister and a brother, Maren and Hans, died in infancy. Another brother, Melvin Rudolph Lunde, died June 26, 1953. One brother, Gustav Adolph Lunde, survives.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church of rural Osage. He farmed all his life until 1956. He was married on November 24, 1920 to Pearl M. Marshall, who survives him.
