Funeral services for Leonard E. Sheldon, 65, of St. Ansgar, who died Sunday, January 18 at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital, were held monday, January 19 at the Schroeder Funeral Home here with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating.

Leonard Earl Sheldon was born March 22, 1915 in Osage, the son of Walter L. and Mabel (Lancaster) Sheldon. He attended the Osage public schools.

He married Beulah Molstad, and six children were born to them. Mr. Sheldon entered the U.S. Army October 18, 1944 and served as a Scout in enemy territory on Luzon, Philippines. He was awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon, Purple Heart, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with One Bronze Star, A. P. T. C. ribbon with One Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Sheldon received his honorable discharge December 11, 1945.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mabel Quam of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Loren (Sandra) Dunn of Austin, Minn.; three sons, Leon of Albert Lea, Minn.; Leonard Jr. of Fort Dodge and Kenneth of Chula Vista, Calif.; one brother, Walter of Osage; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Tacheny of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sheldon was preceded in death by his father; two sons. Meryln and Duane; one brother, Melborne.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Wittern in charge of committal servies. Military honors were presented by the honor squad of the local Walter T. Enneberg Post 358 of the American Legion.
