Funeral rites for a former St. Ansgar woman, Mrs. Ella McCulla, 92, were held Saturday at the Schroeder and Dunn Funeral Home in St. Ansgar. Mrs. McCulla died July 28 at a nursing home in Minneapolis. The Rev. Stephen Engelstad, pastor of the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar, was in charge of the rites and burial was in the church cemetery.

Ella Gunderson was born Feb. 25, 1884 in Newburg township, Mitchell county, the daughter of John and Barbra Gunderson. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar and attended the Otranto and St. Ansgar schools.

Peter Larson and Miss Gunderson were married Dec. 22, 1906 and farmed until his death Feb. 22, 1961. Her marriage to Herb McCulla took place Oct. 15, 1961 and they made their home in Greene until he died in 1969. At that time she moved to Minneapolis to be near her daughter.

Surviving are six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Those preceded her in death were her two husbands; one son, Duane Larson; one daughter, Clarice Feldt; and infant daughter; one grandson; 11 brothers and sisters.
