Burnette O. (nee Hanson) Anderson 1901-2002

Burnette Olga Anderson, 101, of Austin, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, St. Ansgar, Iowa.

She was born August 28, 1901, in Lyle Township, to John and Lena (Martin) Hanson. She attended the Gregg Country School near Lyle. After completing her education, she helped on the family farm until her marriage to Albert Anderson on Aug. 30, 1932, at the Lutheran church parsonage in Lyle. The couple lived and farmed in Nevada Township until 1941, when they moved to farm in Adams Township. Albert died Jan. 21, 1955. Burnette continued to live on the family farm until moving to Adams in 1971. In 1981, she moved to the St. Mark's Lutheran Apartments in Austin.

On June 11, 2002, she moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Ansgar, Iowa. She was a member of Six-Mile Grove Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid of rural Lyle. While living in Austin, she attended St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Survivors include children, John (Jeanine) Anderson, Adams; Beverly Kohoutek, Mason City, Iowa; David (Charlotte) Anderson, Adams; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son in infancy; great-grandson, Aaron Van Proosdy; son-in-law, John Kohoutek; six brothers and sisters.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Service: 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Six-Mile Grove Lutheran Church of rural Lyle with Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating.

Interment: In the church cemetery.

Funeral Home: Worlein Funeral Home, Austin.
