Lola Clara Dieterich was born on November 30, 1912 in Floyd County, Iowa, the daughter of Carl John and Bertha Amelia (nee) Kroneman Dieterich. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar township. In 1920 her family moved to a farm two miles south of St. Ansgar.

On January 24, 1943 she was married to Carl B. Kittleson of St. Ansgar, at the Dieterich farm home, in a snow storm. This union was blessed with five children: Charles Edward, Kermit Lee, Karla Jean, Mary Louise, and John Carl.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Carl; by three brothers: Arnold, Ervin, and Wilmer Dieterich; and by four sisters-in-law: Agnes, Elaine, Evelyn, and Janette Dieterich.

Lola is survived by her children: Charles (Karen) and John (Carmen) of St. Ansgar, Kermit (Sandy) of Hudson, Iowa, Karla (Terry) Anderson of Iowa City, and Mary (Laird) Mott of Omaha, Nebraska; by 15 grandchildren; by 11 great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Lawrence Dieterich of St. Ansgar.

Lola was a wonderful cook and seamstress, who really enjoyed quilting. Each Christmas she would make peppernuts and lefse for her children and friends. She loved her vegetable and flower gardens, and house plants; which all benefited from her green thumb. She was a gracious lady whose core values were demonstrated each day to her family and friends. She always made you feel welcomed and loved.
