Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Thorson, 78, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, April 17, were held April 20 at First Lutheran church with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating.

Leona Thorson, daughter of Albert and Helena (nee Erdman) Hollatz, was born August 30, 1900 in Rock Township, Mitchell county. She was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church, Rock township.

On October 5, 1924 she married Donald Thorson of St. Ansgar. Five children were born to them. They farmed in the St. Ansgar for many years. Mr. Thorson died March 5, 1960.

Mrs. Thorson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Earl.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Elaine) Hansen of St. Ansgar, and Mrs. Galt (Lucille) Mackin of Osage; three sons: Harold of Albuquerque, N.M.; Eugene of Virginia Beach, Va.; and Allen of St. Ansgar; four sisters: Mrs. Esther Haupt of Poynette, Wis.; Mrs. Elsie Dieterich of Rudd; Mrs. Edna Muller of Fort Morgan, Colo.; and Mrs. Laura Muller of St. Ansgar; four brothers: Oscar Hollatz of Bryon, Minn.; Ortwin Hollatz of Osage; Arthur and Lawrence Hollatz of St. Ansgar; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Engelstad in charge of committal services.
