William Frederich Kroneman was born at Jacobsdorf, Pomerania, Germany on February 6th in the year 1845, he was baptized February 25th of the same year.
He was the son of Christove and Marie Radke Kroneman. On the 17th day of April 1859 he was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Voightshagen, near Naugard, Germany. Here he lived until he emigrated to this country in February 1872, staying with his brother for some time.
He purchased a small farm which he later disposed of and purchased the farm (Rock Twp) on which he now went to rest after living there for a period of 26 years. In the year of 1879 he became a citizen of the United States. He was married to Miss Louisa Vedder on February 22, 1883, the marriage being solemnized by Reverend Landgrebe of Toeterville. This union was blessed with six children, two boys and four girls, one of the latter having died in infancy.
In the year 1874 he assisted in the construction of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of which he was a faithful member until his death.
He was not in very good health for several years past but his end came quite unexpectedly. On Sunday the 29th of September, [1918] at 2 o’clock in the afternoon he passed peacefully away after an illness lasting little more than a day. His age at the time of his death was 74 years, 7 months and 23 days.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, five children seven grandchildren, one brother, and two sisters. The funeral was held at his home at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 2nd with a very large attendance. Those who attended from a distance were John Kroneman and daughter, Emelie from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and Mr. & Mrs. William Vedder from Hankinson, North Dakota.
