Funeral for Founder of St. Ansgar to Be Friday at Lutheran Church.

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Andrew Halvorson, 89, pioneer settler of St. Ansgar died at his home south of town Wednesday morning. He was born in Rock Prairie, Wis., and came to St. Ansgar with the Clausen colony, being the last survivor in St. Ansgar of the early settlers.

He was married to Miss Anna Lucinda Helgeson on May 15, 1873, She died May 22, 1917. To this union 12 children were born, who all survive. They are Henry and Albert of Glydon, Minn.; George, Martin, Clarence, Elmer, Irving, Mrs. Carl Dahl, Mrs. George John, Mrs. Iver Dahl, Miss Clara Halvorson of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Harry Davenport of Morristown, N.J.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at the First Lutheran church, the Rev. O. A. Langehough officiating.

Only one other of the founders of St. Ansgar is living, Martin Clausen of California.

Pioneer Resident Laid to Rest
In Riverview Cemetery

Funeral services for Andrew Halvorson, who passed away at his home two miles south of town last week Wednesday, were held Saturday afternoon at one-thirty at the home and two o'clock at the First Lutheran church. Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiated at the services and Rev. Chr. Heltne of Spring Grove, Minnesota, a relative, spoke briefly in behalf of members of the family. Burial was made in Riverview Cemetery,

Present from away to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Bergerson, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Flugum and daughter, Albert Lea, Minn.; B. N. Bergerson, Mrs. H. C. Becker, Gilbert Iverson, Mr. and Mrs. T. N. Olson, Emmons, Minnesota; Mrs. Marla Jacobson and daughter, Minnie, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Frey, Mr. and Mrs. B. Skadeland, Clear Lake; Mr. and Mrs. A. Larson, Ossian; Rev. and Mrs. Chr. Heltne and Bernhard, Spring Grove, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Johnson, Orchard, Mrs. Alvin Grell and James, Mason City, Mr. and Mrs, Herman Halvorson, Mr. and Mrs. Ingvald Halverson and Louis, Mrs. Louis Haberkorn, Osage.

Andrew (Andreas) Halvorson was born near Orfordsville, Rock County, Wisconsin January 22, 1847, son of Hansand Martle Oldslatter Halvorson. He came with his parents to the homestead south of St. Ansgar as a boy, June 24, 1853. He lived there until his death July 15, 1936.

Andrew was married to Anna Lucinda Halegesen, daughter of John and Annie (Larsen) Helegesen, May 15, 1873. She died May 22, 1917. To this union twelve children were born.
