John J. Rauen 1915-2000

John J. Rauen, 84, of Stacyville, Iowa, died suddenly of heart attack Monday, August 7, 2000, at the home of his son James in Ridgway, Colorado.

John was born on October 14, 1915, in Stacyville the son of Matt and Emma (Stieger) Rauen. He attended school in Johnsburg. He was married to Valeria Janning on October 14, 1942, at Blooming Prairie. They farmed the family homestead near Stacyville until 1981. John was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Forresters. John enjoyed visiting with people and antique shopping.

He is survived by wife, Valeria Rauen, Stacyville; daughter, Katherine (Richard) Engle, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; son, James Rauen (Kathy) Ridgeway, Colo.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha (Leo) Schneider, Adams, Margaret (William) Schneider, Adams, Ardela (Rueben) Gilles, Austin; sister-in-law, Rose Rauen, Stacyville; brother-in-law, Jacob Rothamel, Mason City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth; brother, Art; sisters, Bernetta and Isabel.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with the Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating.

Interment: St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Johnsburg.

Visitation: 3:30 Friday in the church hall, at the Visitation Catholic Church where there will be a Catholic Order of Forresters Rosary at 4 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home of Osage is in charge of arrangements.

STACYVILLE - John J. Rauen, 84, of Stacyville, died suddenly of a heart attack on Monday (Aug. 7, 2000) at the home of his son, James, in Ridgway, Colo. John was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Stacyville, the son of Matt and Emma (Stieger) Rauen. He attended school in Johnsburg.

He was united in marriage to Valeria Janning on Oct. 14, 1942, at Blooming Prairie, Minn. They farmed the family homestead near Stacyville until 1981.

John was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Things John enjoyed were visiting with people and antique shopping.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, with Father Joseph Schneider officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Johnsburg, Minn.

Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the church hall at the Visitation Catholic Church, where there will be a Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary at 4 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
