Edna Bisbee 1902-2001

Edna Bisbee, age 98, of Osage, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Edna was born November 2, 1902, on the family farm in Union Township near Stacyville, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrick and Emma (Smith) Decker. She was educated in rural schools.

Edna married Bradford Bisbee on April 28, 1921, at the Decker family farm. They farmed on the Decker family farm near Stacyville. They retired in 1955 and moved to Osage. Bradford died January 30, 1978. Edna was a member of the Osage United Church of Christ and the ladies fellowship. She enjoyed her family and friends.

She is survived by daughter, Beverly (Bob) ... , Santa Fe, N.M., son, Neil (Lucille) Bisbee, Stacyville, nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bradford, and sister Vesta Goplerud.

Service: 1:30 Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Osage, with the Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating.

Interment: Osage Cemetery, at a later date.

Visitation: From 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour before the service at the church.

EDNA BISBEE

OSAGE, IOWA - Edna Bisbee, 98, died Wednesday (Feb. 14, 2001) at Faith Lutheran Home, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ in Osage with the Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating. Inurnment will be in the Osage Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, and will continue one hour before the service at the church Saturday.

Edna Bisbee was born November 29, 1902, on the family farm in Union Township near Stacyville, the daughter of Fredrick and Emma (Smith) Decker. She was educated in rural schools.

Edna was united in marriage to Bradford Bisbee on April 28, 1921, at the Decker family farm. They farmed on the Decker family farm near Stacyville. They retired in 1955 and moved to Osage. Bradford died Jan. 30, 1978.

Edna was a member of the Osage United Church of Christ and the ladies fellowship . She enjoyed her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Gaarder-Williams and her husband, Bob, of Santa Fe, N. M., and her five children, Carole Hicks of Albuquerque, N. M., Cheryl Dix of Albuquerque, N. M., Chris Gaarder of Albuququerque, N. M., Cosetta Lewis of Deming, N. M., and Casandra Petrik of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Neil Bisbee and his wife, Lucille, of Stacyville, and their four children, Harlan Bisbee of McIntire, Joyce Rachut of Osge, Kay Ferris of Sterling, Ill., and Jerry Bisbee of Stacyville; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bradford, in 1978; and a sister, Vesta Goplerud.
