St. Ansgar Man Killed
as Car Hits In-Drive

ST. ANSGAR, Iowa — A St. Ansgar area farmer was fatally injured when his car left the road and crashed into an in-drive embankment Tuesday night.

Killed was Marlin Koster, who would have been 35 Sunday. He was driving alone on County Road S when his car left the road between the Edward Feldt farm and Immanuel Cemetery, about one half mile south of St. Ansgar.

Mitchell County Sheriff Harry Horn said the car left the road, veered into the ditch and traveled 169 yards before hitting the in-drive. Koster died instantly of a broken neck, Horn said.

Koster was born on a farm east of St. Ansgar and operated one of the family farms east of St. Ansgar. This is the fourth fatal accident in Mitchell County this year.
