Arthur Shoars

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 25, 1988 at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, for Arthur Shoars, 60, of Orchard. The Reverend John Gilbert officiated and burial was in the Orchard Cemetery. He died Tuesday, August 23, 1988 at his home near Orchard of natural causes.

Mr. Shoars was born August 26, 1927 in Osage to Clyde and Helen (Smalle) Shoars. He attended Osage schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II during the Philippines.

On September 4, 1949 he was married to Donna Roberts. He was employed for many years with Combs Bridge Construction of Mason City and was also employed for seven years by Universal Cooperative in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He then returned to farm near Orchard.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Connie) Whitten of Omaha; one son, Michael of Orchard; three sisters, Mrs. C. E. (Velma) Smith of Dubuque, Mrs. Clifford (Delores) Bartholmey of New Richland, Minnesota, and Mrs. LaVonne Covey of Phoenix, Arizona; and five grandchildren, Chad and Christopher Shoars, Jeremy Artickx, and Jeffrey and Jennifer Whitten.
