Funeral services were held Monday, October 3, 1988 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, for Edith Novak, 69, of Osage. Reverend Joseph Nesheim and Reverend Dennis Hanson officiated and burial was in Osage Cemetery. She died Friday, September 30, 1988 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, of natural causes.
Edith was born May 23, 1919 in Clayton County, a daughter of Gilbert and Theoline (Wilson) Nelson. She moved with her family to Osage as a child and attended Osage schools. She graduated from Osage High School in 1937.
In 1937, she and Stanley Novak were united in marriage and they made their home in Osage. She worked many years as a teller at Osage Farmers National Bank and retired in 1974.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary, Osage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley who died in 1982; her parents; and infant son; and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Frederick of Tucson, Arizona and Ronald of URbandale; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Veston (Gladys) Martin of Calmar, Mrs. John (Myrtle) Anderson of Osage, Mrs. Orpha Robinson of San Jose, California, and Mrs. Roy (Arlita) Miller of Hardy, Arkansas; and one brother, Gaylord of Kansas City, Missouri.
