Louis J. Vander Myde

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 28, 1988 at United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, for Louis J. Vander Myde, age 90, of St. Ansgar. He died Sunday, December 25, 1988 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, of natural causes.

The Rev. Bill Jenkins officiating and burial will be in St. Ansgar Cemetery.

He was born September 8, 1898 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John and Elizabeth (DeJong) Vander Myde. He attended school in Morrison, Illinois.

He married Ann Pals on August 28, 1928 in Sheldon. They moved to St. Ansgar in 1939 when he became manager of the Rural Electric Cooperative. He remained manager until 1969 when he retired after 30 years of service.

Mr. Vander Myde was a member of St. Ansgar United Methodist Church and a charter member of St. Ansgar Lions Club. He enjoyed building and repairing clocks as a hobby.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Ann of St. Ansgar; two sons, Phillip and Paul both of Alexandria, Virginia; three grandchidlren; one sister, Mrs. Evangeline Venhuizen of Morrison, Illinois; and two brothers, Isaac and Ben, both of Morrison, Illinois.

NOTE: His wife died on 23 JULY 1994 in Virginia; she was born 8 DEC 1905.
